Semper Station rumbles into town
I know I know, I only blogged yesterday and everyone is sick of me taking up there time with my occasionally witty but often hilarious blogs. This time though I do have something to say that one could class as important. Especially if one likes to dabble in a little bit of writing.
Phoned the Station Pub’s manager the other day and confirmed that Semper Station will definately be going on. I’ve put the entry form for people’s scripts into this blog but also the Semper blog, which is being momentarily revived for the event. So here goes.
Semper Station call for submissions
Midlands writer’s group Semper is putting on a new writing night at the Station pub, Sutton Coldfield on the 20th October 2009. It will consist of six or seven short scripts being read script in hand in front of an audience. The purpose is to celebrate and promote forward-thinking writing in the area.
The theme is for the first night is ‘Human Nature’
If you wish to submit, please ensure…
The script is linked to the night’s theme.
- The script is no longer than ten minutes.
- The script can be performed in a small area.
- The script uses no more than four actors.
- You include your home postcode in the e-mail.
Each person should submit one script only and all submissions need to be sent to the below e-mail no later than midnight on October 10th 2009.
For more details consult the website www.sempergroup.wordpress.com
All submissions should be sent to semperinfo@gmail.com
Exciting no? I mean. Yes it’s exciting. Anyone who fancies an act feel free to let me know and I’ll try and fit you in (in other words we have far too few actors and would really really like people to join in)
Loves
Phil
That big announcement I promised you all
Didn’t quite happen as expected. In fact it still hasn’t really happened. What has happened is that I’m waiting for the Station Pub manager to get back to me. When he does I’ll be able to tell you. Thank you to all my facebook allies who decided to, proposed to and married Emma for me.
I’ve been entering competitions this week. I started on Friday past, when I paid (I know, stupid) to enrol in the Screenwriting Championships 2009. All went well, and after a brief scare when I thought it might be a scam I scraped together a script out of nothing and sent it off. Those of you who are interested can have a look
I’ve posted it on the forum that the site gives you to let people feedback so hopefully I’ll have some hand-picked quotes to throw at you. This is a really big change for me, I’ve usually stayed away from writing for the screen because… well it’s something else to suck at. But I suppose if I’m ever going to make any money from this hobby I’ll have to branch into TV/film at some point so I figured joining something that will give me muchos feedback can’t be bad.
The other thing? Well I’ve written a quick play called Merry Christmas Mr Toilet Man, and entered it in the Wild Orchid Christmas Competition (I know, I actually completed something I set out to do!). The play is awful in my opinion and needs a lot of work, but maybe that’s because I’ve been working on it so hard and am sick of it.
I’ll put a link up to that soon enough, I’m just going to attack it with a biro. The problem is that I really like the premise, but think it wasn’t quite right for a short 10 minute play. I’ll try and extend it and work at it and get something rehhhhhhhealy good.
(You have to say rehhhhhealy like that Jim Carrey bloke. That’s why I wrote it like that)
Wow. Stay supple readers, and I’ll have updates from all of that for you soon.
